Talanton’s first in-person Bringing Hope Celebration was held a few weeks ago at the Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs! It was a glorious event filled with Talanton supporters, founders/leaders from five African portfolio businesses, plus speakers/panelists enjoying Christian fellowship together.
Over the next few months, we plan to share content from this powerful event to demonstrate how you and your family can help “the least of these” in East Africa through jobs and impact investing. Today, we are excited to share the recording from a panel entitled the “Impact Investing Movement – Insights & Stories” featuring Greg Lernihan, Rachel McDonough and DG Elmore (see their bios below). The panel discussion was facilitated by Jon Halverson, a Talanton Partner. Greg Lernihan is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others and has refocused his life with this purpose. He currently dedicates his time to mentoring budding entrepreneurs, investing in impact-related companies, and supporting Christian ministries passionately serving Chicago and other parts of the world. Greg served as Chairman of Impact Foundation, and is the Co-Founder of Convergint Technologies. Started in a basement in 2001, Convergint is now the world’s largest privately held electronic security firm with over 2,400 colleagues globally. Greg spent 20 years at Siemens before leaving as Sr. Vice President for North America. Active in professional and civic organizations, Greg mentors inner-city youth and serves on several boards, including a national entrepreneurship program for high school students, Impact Engine, and other impact companies he has invested in. Greg earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Purdue University. He is married and has been blessed with three children and two grandchildren.

Rachel McDonough is a Certified Financial Planner™ Professional and a Certified Kingdom Advisor® with over 18 years of experience helping generous, values-driven families manage wealth in a way that truly reflects their priorities. She loves watching clients become crystal clear regarding their goals, understand the practical trade-offs of their financial choices, and make powerful decisions that have a positive impact on their families and communities. In addition to being a multi-year "5 Star Wealth Manager," she is also a published author and frequent speaker on values-based investing. Rachel currently chairs the Advisors Group of the Faith Driven Investor movement, a fast-growing network of Christian financial professionals and investors, is a worship leader at her church, and loves her "other job" as a homeschooling mama of 3.

D.G. Elmore has over 30 years of experience co-founding, leading, and acquiring multiple businesses in various industries. His industry experience includes travel management, technology, publishing, manufacturing, professional sports, and staffing. DG’s degrees include a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University, an M.B.A. from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, and a law degree from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. D.G. and his wife, Gini, live in Bloomington, Indiana, and have six children. D.G. is the Chair of The Navigators’ U.S. Board of Directors, an international Christian organization.
